Robin “Frenchy” Ponzoni started coaching in 2010 and built Frenchy Surf School around one idea: the right feedback, at the right moment, makes surfing safer, simpler and a lot more fun.
You are not sent to the same beginner beach every time. Frenchy reads your level and the day’s conditions, then chooses the safest useful wave for faster progression.
Your level, board, confidence and goal are matched with the best available conditions across the Mid Coast or South Coast.
Simple cues in real time help you make the correction while the feeling is fresh.
You finish knowing what changed, what to practise and how to recognise it next surf.
If your situation is unusual, message Frenchy. The ocean is rarely a neat checkbox, mate.
Yes. Private coaching can be delivered in the water for beginners, with the session adapted to confidence, safety and strong foundations. The kids squads are for surfers who already catch unbroken waves.
Sessions can run around Seaford, Port Noarlunga, the Adelaide Mid Coast or Middleton. Frenchy is not tied to one beginner beach: the safest useful wave is chosen for your ability, confidence and progression goal, then confirmed around swell, wind and tide.
Squad surfers bring their own board and wetsuit. Private clients should ask before booking because limited foamboard and wetsuit rental may be available.
Safety comes first. A session may move, change format or be rescheduled if the surf is unsafe or unsuitable. Cancellations or changes by clients should be made at least 24 hours ahead.
Yes. Add an emailed video review to private coaching for $50, or choose the $300 premium coaching experience for live filming, a detailed café debrief and a personal progression plan.
Tell Frenchy your level, board and biggest struggle. You’ll get a straight recommendation.
